All these new posts

I have moved all my posts from my Ebay blog. There are times I want to talk about things that may not resonate well on that enviroment, wether it is political or personal in nature.

Thanks Kat

Happy Mother's Day from Far Away!

So, it is Mother's day and to all the Mother's who have son's and daughters in the military, wether in the states or deployed overseas I wish you a joyful, peaceful day.

I received a Mother's Day call yesterday from Bear in Afghanistan. He sounded so tired and so weary. He has a bum knee now, he tore his NCL. (I had to look that one up) They told him when he comes home he will have surgery and for now they are giving him a great reliever of pain, TYLENOL. I feel like Shirley McClain in Terms of Endearment, where she is running around the nurses station screaming, "Give her the shot! She only had to wait till 10:00, so give her the shot! Now Now Now!!!!!!!"

Bear is an extreme sportskid(I just can't get used to him being a man) Ok, sports-m-a-n. He rides a long board(skate board) all up and down Cali. He even has a sponser and he is good. Of course I set back and bite my nails just watching some of his videos. Have you ever been to a play, movie, the opera where the show was so good a silent awe hung over the audience. Thats how it feels when I watch them in AWE WOW!

So of course I wonder how this will affect him. But knowing Bear he will push through it.
So, to all my sisters in life and online, and all the Mothers who help me through times when I just don't think I can go any further, I thank you and love you. Mother Chops-YOU ROCK! and I love you.

Practicing Medicine

Went to see the Doc today, that will be taking the place of my specialist at KUMC for my Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. We were put in the outhouse room. The room was littered in outhouses made from wood, metal, toungue depressers, just about anything you could think of. He was a hoot. It is rare to find a doctor these days that have a genuine bedside manner. He did.

Of course it helped that he went to school with my Doc in Kansas and that they were buddies. And knowing Doc Kansas they were not quire boys either. The both have a sick sense of humor.
The Doc here has a deep voice and is very engaging and has a rumbling laugh that just makes you feel like you are at home and puts a smile on your face. I felt comfy telling him how my boobs went from, "where are they?" to "OMG what happened?" It is the fault of one of the meds I take and if I was a Doc I would be a millionaire. I went from a AA to a DD in 6 months. I am now in my 3rd year of taking this medication and my boobs are staying strong. Hubby loves them and so do I. But my back does not.

But I disgress, the Doc in Kansas was from Australia and a very gruff man when first meeting him. He is a perfectionist. If he can't find a diagnosis he keeps looking. Mine came in the form of a printed copy of the symptoms off the CVS website. I took this info to him and we discussed it and took a few more test and I was his first patient diagnosed with CVS. I think he owe's me some money! Just Kidding! This man gave me back my life. My grave was dug and I was jumping in and he caught me. He is a smart ol' cuss.

Doc Kansas, my husband, and I became good friends. We had a rivalry going between Oklahoma State University and University of Kansas. BTW Doc if you happen to come across this you owe the Rev a dollar and you had better wore that OSU shirt I bought for you, that you are supposed to wear if you lose! Go Pokes!

Unfortunately, Doc Kansas is going to help other people with other diseases in a different part of the country so we had to see a new doctor. Who at least is in town.

So, all in all, it was a pretty good day! The Rev got to go with me and that was a real treat seeing how I get to see him about 3 hours a day, these days. More on that in another blog.

PS if someone could tell me if we can put pictures on our blogs and how I would be so grateful.

Spring Cleaning Wha?

Ok, we live in a 3000square foot house all one level. We have our office carpeted a rug under our pool table and dining room table. Other than that it is tiled or cement stained.

We also have 2 furbabies, Miss Kitty and Shreevie. And I swear if I could sell all the fur they drop I would be a millionaire. Sometimes when I'm sweeping these big black fur things come out from under the beds, couches, those things, just seem to lurk, watching and waiting to come out and grab you by the leg and pull you under and suck the life out of you. And I clean my floors every week.(Well sometimes every other week under the bed and furniture.)

So saying all this I was leading in to this. When I met my husband I realized how neat and tidy he was. Everything had a place and it was in it. When we got married it was my turn to take care of the house. OMG! I will just put it in statements for you. My pet peaves.

1) When you guys clean the toilet why do you just throw the cleaner in there, use the scrubber, flush and voila it is clean. UH NOT!

Let me give you a lesson guys, germs are every where. On the outside of the bowl, down the sides behind the bowl, sometimes on the walls surrounding the toilet, and DEFINATELY on the floor around the toilet. Oh, oh, and let me not forget the rim, the toilet seat top and bottom, the lid ,the little place behide the seat and tank, and finally the tank.(Not exactly in this order)

2) When you guys dust could you please remove the chatchi's off and dust the whole piece of the furnture. That way you wont have little dust marks where you couldn't get in between them. And while your at it dust the chatchi's.

3) AND my biggest pet peave of all is don't put the dish you just ate off of in my clean soapy water! Rinse it off or sit it on the counter. That clean soapy water will not be clean any more if you put food ridden dishes in it.

Any way I am doing the spring cleaning this year and I have never seen so many socks stuffed here or there. And I always find them after I have done the white load in the washer. Maybe I'm a little anal but I like to finish every possible piece of the laundry in the house, besides what we are wearing.

During spring cleaning I also do throw rugs, blankets, pillows, comforters outside for a few hours so anything that could have dust mites in them die. I am so allergic to so many things that after winter I have to get it out of the house.

And I know how convenient the Swiffers are but they just push the dirt around like all the rest of the mops. The best to clean floors was the way my Granny taught me. Sweep with a broom, then pull on the rubber gloves, get a bucket add a little ammonia and some soap, get brush or sponge and clean that area until no more dirt showed up. (she had cement finished floors also back in the day)

Ammonia and newspaper was used for the windows. Man it really lets the sunshine in. You may get a little news print on your hands but hey it will wash off. (also use rubber gloves)
On to sinks and tubs. Sinks always got a spray of water and comet scrubbed in and left to for a while. Then scrubbed again and rinsed till there was no sign of any comet left.

The tub was taken care of a little different because who wants to get in and sit on scratchy cleaning products. It got bleach and a green scrubber pad and then rinsed and rinsed. Then it must be dried.

And now that I think of it the toilet was right next to that tub. EEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUU! I think my lunch is going to come up.

You might have noticed I am a bathroom snob. If we are running around or on a small trip, I carry antibacterial stuff for my hands and a can of lysol to spray on the bottom of my shoes.
I must go now! I have bathrooms to clean and base boards to polish!

Something Missing

The days are long and hard with work that has to be done on a dime and to perfection. No time for thought or sadness.

The nights are fearful, with cool stillness that is more frightening than the sisssssssss boom of the surrounding projectiles. We try to sleep back to back and one at a time. Guarding each other in case of an another attack.

Leaving our lives to fight a war of terror for our homeland people to feel safe and secure. Fighting a war with friends losing thier arms, legs, minds, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, lives....

I am over here serving my country and hear this from my homeland......There is No More War on Terror...Obama.

I miss you and love you Mom and Dad and Jess! And I am still fighting the WAR on terror no matter what anyone says. The USA is my country and it was attacked, until the people are caught there will still be a war on terror.

Please let my country men and ladies know Mom, I am at the ready and am here for them. I love my country and my fellow Americans.

The Bear

Do I need to tell you I am crying my eyes out right now.

I love you son,
Mom

Friday almost one week!

Tomorrow Bear will be gone for a week. I have no idea in Afghanistan he is but he is there and I found out through Google Earth shows lots of military bases there. I was actually quite surprised.

The crying jags are fewer and farer in between and the acceptance that he is at war is not any easier but tolerable.

It is funny how much you miss a voice that you hear every other night and then nothing, Silence. And now everytime the phone rings we are running to see if it is him. Hell, I would even pay for all the soldiers calls if they would just let them call home.

But I'll bring a little levity in . I miss my son like crazy but I DO NOT MISS HIS FEET! What is it with soldiers feet? Is it the boots they wear? the socks? what? I feel so sorry for his girlfriend when he kicks off his togs. I know I send him straight to the bathroom to wash and dry them and have all the neccessary sprays, ointments, powders, give him the toe nail clippers to clean oup those hoofs, and then top them off with a nice pair of clean socks. Only then can he be pleasant company. It always reminds me of that Toe Jam song back in the 70's. Yuck!
But the rest of him is pleasant enough to be around. And I do really miss him so while I still have a smile on my face I am going to close before I sob.

Today is a Bit Better

The tears are still there just waiting to well up but I am being strong and hoping you can feel it from here. I spoke via Myspace to your girlfriend yesterday. I had not had the pleasure to meet her yet. I will tell you this though, first impressions, she is wonderful. She told me of her tour in Iraq and how her time went and how the lines of defenses were set up between them and us.(ie special warfare, seals, seabees) She is very articulate and sweet and listened to all my fears and acknowledged them without malice and actually comforted me.

She told me how much she loved you and how strong you were. She said you were a "one in a million" soldier and knew your job and would accomplish your tasks and get out and back home before we knew it.

There were so many pictures of you I just browsed and smiled at your sweet face. You still have a smile like a car salesman. It can make you want something even if you had one just like it and didn't need another one.

I am still praying for you and love you so much! And if I can swing it will be there in LA when you come back.
Be strong. Be wise. Be love.

The First Day After You Left

Tears, lots and lots of tears. Do you remember that little stuffed toy, that we could never figure out what it is was so we called it "Dot". It was blue and has arms, legs, and a big smile on it. You gave it to me some 14 years ago as a surprise. I got a new car and you put it on my rearview mirror. I bet you didn't know I still have it.
In fact it is sitting here beside me as I type this. It went with me today when I went up to the SASS grounds to see what your Dad, Aubrey and Shane had got finished. The church is up, they were working on the sherrifs office and the saloon. Next week they will be working on the gunsmithing shop, saddle shop and the bank.
I have run out of tears and words. I am tired I will finish this and write tomorrow.
Love Mom

The Day You Leave

I slept with your jacket last night. Some how it got to the bed from the closet. It is the Navy jacket you left for your Dad with your last name emblazended across your left chest in bright golden yellow. I cried so much yesterday, my tears dried up.

I have a big red "X" on my calendar that says Bear goes to War.

I was awoke this morning with the special ring we put on the phone to let us know it was you and I flew out of the bedand searched for the phones. Your Dad got it before I could get there. He is a strong man, but I think I saw a single tear as he handed me the phone and turned away.

You were at the airport and were just moments away from boarding the plane that will take you to Kuwait and then on to Afghanastan.I could hear a small quiver in your voice in response to my quiver in telling you "I love you! Be strong! Come home safe!" And then you had to go.

How I wish I could run to you and envelope you in my arms and hold you and tell you it was all going to be ok like I did when you had a bike accident or some one at school was being mean to you. Or when the one you thought was the one broke your heart.

So, when you are scared, feel my arms around you, when you are hurt, remember me being cheek to cheek and telling you it is going to be ok, and if you can't sleep at night, remember me softly tucking your hair behind you ear and singing "Over the Rainbow".

And most of all remember I'll love you always.

Mom

Day before you leave

Today is the day I have dreaded all my life. The day you become a man. Not when you moved out of the house, or when you had your first girlfriend or even when you bought your first car.
You were the sweetest little thing when you were born. All round and chubby and topped with the sweetest black hair, that I begged your Nee Naw not to put in a curl right in the middle of your head.(Even though it was adorable, I knew you would hate it later when the girls saw your baby pictures.)

You had a hard time growin up, never knowing where you fit in. But from the age of 5 you knew you wanted to be in th military. One day it would be Navy, next the Marines and then I want Jets. Yes, you wanted to fly and be free like the time you jumped off the balcony into the bushes below.

You know I don't know how I made it through your childhood, well yes I do. It was all encompassing love. I loved you so much it didn't matter what happened. If I yelled at you we would always sit down later and talk it out.

I remember one time I slapped you and to this day when I think of it my heart aches and I can not tell you how sorry I am for that day.

It was funny because older adults would tell me they could have intelligent conversations with you and how smart you were. We all knew this is why you had so many problems with your peers. I just didn't know how to turn it around for you so it would work for you. And then on top of that I was always so sick. And you would take care of me. A child stayed with his Mom instead of friends because she was sick. Do you know how special you really are?

So, the day before you leave for Afghanastan, know that I love you, know that I will pray for you, and yes I will cry, but I will try to stand strong for you and when you come home I will be here to hug you and listen if you need an ear or just sit with you in silence.

I have your picture and a candle that will burn until you come home.

You are a good soldier and even a better man. Stay strong, faithful and serve your country.
Your Mom

Right/Left on the Fence...

There are a few things I am passionate about sexually abused children, the extinction of honey bees, the ovepopulation of our pets, and yes all the cats and dogs our the worlds pets, and the polar bears.

This is from the joinwwfusa.org web site:

"Rising global temperatures are threatening wildlife all around the world and putting polar bears at risk of extinction. WWF is working to save polar bears and other species, and to preserve the habitats they need to survive. We need your help to put our solutions into action.

With help from supporters like you, we can continue to protect endangered animals from climate change and other global threats. Your gift of just $16 a month could mean the difference between survival and extinction for polar bears, orangutans, tigers and other wildlife."

I dont know about you but the polar bears were my favorite when we went to the zoo when I was little. They always looked like a big white teddy bear.

It is sad though that global warming is putting them at risk. The polar cap in the last 20 years has reduced in size and the areas they used to roam is no longer able to support them. So the mothers are leaving the babies to fend for themselves.

So, please even if you just want to see beautiful pictures of the animals they have on this site, visit it. And if you want to donate that is great to!

To My Dearest Meggie Mae!

My best friend left Las Vegas at 1:00am this morning to Arkansas. She will be burying her 30 year old daughter in the next few days. She was home for Christmas and was a proud Grandma of a 2 month old baby girl.

Yesterday while talking on the phone for not less than an hour, which usually is the case when we start talking, my bff received a call on her cell phone. It had rang 4 different times that we were talking and she said well I will just call them back when we get off the phone. We always put each other on speaker phone so we can go about our duties at our houses.

The last time her cell rang she told me to hold on and answered. I knew something had happened because I heard her ask about Megan's husband and baby and then she screamed, "No don't Brenda don't!" And then let out the most gutteral sound I have ever heard coming from a human being. I heard her fall to the floor and making her way over to the phone still screaming and telling me, "My baby is dead, Robin(my real name). I need to call Tom!"(dh)
So, we hung up and in the evening I called and talked to Tom, to learn that Meggie Mae had gone off the road and went head on with a tree and was killed instantly. We have no other information just yet.

So, Meggie Mae, I have known and loved you since you were a little scamp at 12. I watched you blossom into a lovely teenager who was kind hearted and loved life.

When you moved to Mississippi I would talk for hours with your Mom because she missed you so. And then when you got married, I couldn't believe you were so grown up and ready. You weathered some very hard times at the beginning of the marriage but over came some of the problems and last year in October gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

I promise you I will take care of your Mom for you and make sure she gets as much love and anything else that she needs. I promise I will patiently listen to her grieving with out complaining and leave at any time for Las Vegas if she needs me there.

Most of all you will be missed my little Indian! I love you!

I don't understand the ways of God and the reasons for tragedies like this except I think the Devil steals the good ones away. And while I know we will see her again one day I will still smile at the old times and regret the time I missed with this beautiful winged creature of God.

Rest in Peace my sweet Meggie Mae

My Greatest Fears Realized!

As you know the Bear is in the Navy Working in Special Warfare with the Seals. He just called us a bit ago and told us he got his orders. He was suppose to go to Spain, but now he is going to one of the places I have feared most, Afghanistan.

I started shaking and took some Ativan and while I am still shaking I have not really realized the full scope of what is happening. I think I am in some kind of shock. Bear is my one and only.
I could only have one because I had cancer 2 years after his birth and everything was removed. He has always had my heart and every beat, beats for him. I never knew you could fall so much in love with someone who you just met after birth.

So, I am just asking for prayers that God will guide his hand to be light and or heavy when needed, his heart to be loving and kind , that his legs to be swift and that his soul to be right with God in case he will meet his maker.

I have loved this child now a man for 22 years of my life ..... and I will go on loving him the rest of mine!

So here's to you BEAR and all that goes with it "I LOVE YOU" and GOOD LUCK" and "The Home Fire's ARE Burning" and there will be a candle lit every night in YOUR HONOR until you are safe.

Happy New Year! What? When?

I am writing in purple because purple is my favorite color! We actually went to a party I enjoyed this year for New Years. But being on the medication cycle I am on I started getting really sleepy at 10:30 and I do things like fall asleep in my dominos, which happened to be the game we were playing that night.

Our host Susie, bless her heart, was like, "Kat, are you ok?"

Me: Yes, I'm just looking at what to play.

2 minutes later

the Rev says, "play this!"

Me: OK

Around the table we went again and the same conversation. Finally we just decided to come home. I really hated to leave but Im sure I wasn't much fun at that moment. These are new friends and they accept me with all my flaws and my crazy illness.

So, that was my New Years, I missed it never saw it coming or leaving maybe one day I will.

Bwahahahaha!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

The Boy Becomes A Man And The Mother Weeps

This is the first Christmas I have not had the honor of having my son Bear present. He is off serving his country and I have been weeping off and on since yesterday.

I called him so much yesterday I think he was getting pissed off. Ok Ok I know I am the one that needs to cut the apron strings. But it was Christmas and his presents didn't arrive in time and I could here in his voice that he was depressed.

But this is the first time he hasn't called me and cried on my shoulder. The first time he didn't just call to talk all day long. The first time he didn't need me. :(

I felt like crap. I think it is a transition I wasn't ready for. I thought the empty nest was all over, but now I realize I was still holding on to that tiny little wing and he finally wiggle out of my grasp and has flown.

He called today while opening his delayed packages and squeeling at each one and of course I was on the other line beaming! I know he probably did it just for me and it was the very best Christmas present I have ever received in my life!

AW CHRISTMAS THE PINE SMELL IN THE AIR !

This year we were picked to host the Gun Clubs Holiday party. You have to understand our house it is a one level 3000 sqft home. It is one of the older 70's homes with all the different accusticule levels in the ceiling in which made it easier for us to turn it into an 1800's home.
As you walk through the front door you are walking on river rock that could lead off in 3 directions: The Cowboy Room, The Kitchen, or the great room which connect the kitchen, to the great room and to pool hall.

We renovated this home for the last 5 years from an 70's look into an 1800's Hotel room(cowboy room), the great room(the sherrifs office), a two sided closet(is a gun safe),One bedroom is my Victorian Sewing room, The back room off the greatroom is a pool hall equipped with poker tables, pool table in the cente, The main bath is equipped with a clawfoot red bathtub and has faux painted brick shithouse around the stall. It is reall quite amazing if I say so myself.
The only room not finished is the master and we are so pooped we decided to wait for awhile for them .

Well, this house was decorated in all cowboy and it has wore out my cow. 4 christmas trees, 5 garlands, tons of flower arrangements, snowman collection, the village, etc. The whole house looked like Christmas threw up on it, but it was beautiful and only took me since the middle of Nov.

They came they saw, they all had a great time and then we sent them home and flopped on the floor. There's nothing like the gratification of people loving the hard labor and love into what you have created. So we just held each other and before my eyes closed I think I heard The Rev say I Love You!

To my littlest love!

You are the Reason
Every morning,

I call your name,
and ask if this day can be as wonderful as yesterday.

Every day,
I call your name ,
and ask for the strength to go on.

Every evening,
I call your name and ask that you continue
to love me the way that you have forever!

Every night,
I call your name,
and hope for a peaceful rest
and the hope to wake up
the next morninghoping you will be there.

And you will be as you have for
the last 7 years with your head on my pillow
and your little wet black nose, and your arms
wrapped around my hand, your little furry body
snugged in next to mine and with that first
little squeeze I give you and the first little meow,
we begin another wonderful day.

Thank you God for giving me Miss Kitty!

Your Kitty Mama

Men you gotta love 'em! or not!

Have you ever noticed when your first married and you call your other half at work how excited you both are on the phone. Its all "I love you honey" "I love you too Boo Boo" and so on. And of course the I love you when you have to say good bye in which you think you will die until the next phone call and watch the minute hand on the clock tick tick tick by.

Then three years go by and you may talk to each other 2 times a day and the phone calls are more geared as to what is being served for dinner or what is on the agenda for tonight. And they last about 2 minutes and you still have the "I love you" when you say good bye. But the clock watching is all but gone.

Three more years fly by and if you talk to each other twice a week it is more than enough. But there are those days when everything is just going to hell in a handbasket and the phone is a necessity. Here is just a sampling of ours from yesterday. I had to go to Hobby Lobby to pick up something for him.

Me: Rev(Hubby) I am here in the fabric aisle and they have the faux tooled leather in brown and black which color and how many yards?

Rev: 1 yard and black.

Me: OK!

Got fabric but forgot to ask him about spray on adhesive.

Me: Hey, I am in the adhesive aisle, which one do you want?

Rev: I don't know read off what they have.

Me: Reading off about 18 different adhesive's.

Rev: No, the one I want is not there. I will have to pick it up from Lowes or Home Depot later.

Me: OK

Thought heck Lowe's is a block away I will just run over there and pick it up and he will be all set.

Me: I am going to go ahead and run over to Lowe's and pick it up. What is it called?

Rev: Uh, I dont know.

Me: uh, ok.

Rev: Let me run to the tool room and I will call you right back.

Me: Ok I will go on to Lowe's and wait in the adhesive aisle.

So, I go to Lowe's and go to the aisle and wait and then kinda start walking around looking at all the new wallpaper they have and drawer pulls and just getting all kinds of ideas on new stuff I could do in the house. And realize I had been there a good 30 minutes. So I call him.

Me: Did you call?

Rev: No not yet!

Me: OK, so you know I have been here for 30 min and you have made no effort to call me or tell me you didn't have time or....

Rev: I am going right now.

He told me the name and it was done with.

So today as the time has started to get away with me(and mind you the Rev and I speak on the phone at least once a day) and I hadn't heard from him I called him. His phone was answered by Valerie his staff associate and we giggled and cut up for a while before hanging up and I called his cell phone.

I let you in on a little secret I am almost full Irish and I am a red head. So you don't normally want to piss me off.

Me: Hey Whats up?

Rev: Oh me and Gary and trying on the company boots they picked out for us this year.

Me: Oh, cool. You sound like you have a head cold like me.

Rev: Hmm hmmm

Me: I talked to Valerie(I gave him that whole spiel)

Rev: ok

Me: Are you listening to me?

Rev: Yea, something about Valerie....

Me: Why do I try...

And believe me there were no "I love you's" at the end of that conversation!

PS: I still love my hubby with all my heart!

Homecoming and a red face!

I am writing this in orange because it is one of our team colors for the Oklahoma State Cowboys! Go Pokes! It has been ages since I have been to a college football game and this last weekend we went.

You know that diet commercial that has that broad that talks about losing weight and then she says she likes football and how many girls can do that? I hate that woman! Lots of woman love football and can stand right next to a man toe to toe!

I digress. We get to Stillwater just in time to see the parade and then do some antique shopping and then head for the stadium. We tried to get a bite to eat at Eskimo Joes but it was filled to the gills and overflowing out to a parking area acorss the street.

So we just picked up a pretzel fom the venders and go to our seats. 30 minutes till game start. My husband has never met someone he doesn't know. So he was quite happy talking to the guy sitting next to him while I watched the teams warm up. Finally the game starts!

It was a great game. I swear they stayed in a 20 yard area for most of the 1st quarter. Both defenses were tight and trained well. Number 21 on Baylor would just put his head down and run toward his target and knock him off his feet. And if he didn't go all the way down he would slug him.
The whole game was a game of upsets and thrills. I was on my feet most of the time screaming and jumping up and down and clapping and just being a fan!. The Rev stayed in his seat talking to the mucky mucks from the company he works for. Evidently these were corporate seats so the Rev had to have some decorum. Screw that I was having fun!

At one point in the game Baylor had the ball and it was 4th down and 6 yards to the goal line. The pitch was made and it went right through the quarterbacks hands and the Cowboys picked it off. I was screaming and jumping up and down and trying to get the Rev with one of my arms behind me and I was actually slapping him in the face. The mucky muck next to him started roaring in laughter! And I just turned around and told him to watch the replay. You know life is just to short not to have fun when you can!

Any way the Cowboys won and it was a great game! And I can't wait for the next one only this time I am bringing the Rev a baseball face mask

EQUAL TIME FOR MAN AND BEAST

We are the proud parents of 2 girls and one boy, proud grandparents of 4 girls and 2 boys and proud furparents of 1 girl kitty and 1 boy kitty. Again, all the kids are grown and moved out which just leaves the furbabies. But...

...when our last child the Bear, was still at home he was very threatened by the kitties. At the time we had three, Taz, Shreevie and Miss Kitty. They were all brought home from very tragic beginnings and they were a little spoiled because of various injuries that required a lot of time and care. Needless to say Miss Kitty became my cohort in crime, my little shadow. Where I go she goes.

One Thanksgiving as we were getting ready to sit down to dinner I was setting the table and put the plates down on the table One for the Rev, one for the Bear and one for me, and a smaller plate. Then of course the same with the glasses, except for a bowl at the last place. When it was time we called the Bear in and he acted a little confused and asked where was he supposed to sit. We told him and he just kinda look at the small plate and bowl. He finally picked up his plate and began filling it with all of the holiday fair and took his seat still not saying a word about the odd place setting.

When I got the small plate and put a small chopped piece of turkey aand ham on it, a green bean, a small amount of mashed taters' and a piece of roll Bears eye's narrowed. I then replaced the plate and the Rev and I filled our plates. Then I filled everyones drinks, tea for Rev, Bear and I and milk in the bowl.

We then said prayers and sat down to eat. I call Miss Kitty and her she came gallopping up to the table and bouncing into her chair, and without a paw on the table she ate everything on her plate and drank her milk jumped down took a bath and went to take a nap. Not a morsel spill or a mess made.

John got up took his dishes to the sink and all the way to his bedroom pissed and moaned about the cat sharing he Thanks Giving table and as he closed the door I heard him say, "Turd"

LIFE HAS A WAY OF TAKING THE LOW ROAD

You know somewhere back in the creases of your mind, you feel you are going to live for ever, like nothing bad could happen to you or you won't have to deal with an illness that can kill you.

About a month ago I was succeeding at dealing with a disease I have had most my life called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. It is a nasty little diesease, where you go through cycles of thrwing up for 1,2 maybe a week before it stops, or go the th ER and have them knock you out to get it stopped. Your mind goes ya and it is as if you are having an out of body experience and I swear everything you have ever done in your life that you regretted will come up and bit you in the ass. THey have no cure but it has something to do with motillity and migraines.

OK so I was sailing along and just started to not feel good. I was blacking out and couldn't get to the mail box without being winded and I found a lump! ARRRGGGGHHH! I can't stand to go to the doctors any more I have been there so much and I am just tired. I kept putting it off and I was getting worse and worse. So at the advice of some very dear people in my life, which right now I could not do with out-Thanks DPC'ers-I went to have a tune up!

I go in and tell him all my symptoms and we do a full workup. x-rays blood etc. And then the call me in a few days. But you'll be fine.

Ok, I'll be fine. so, three days after I call for my results and I am told he will call back. The phone rings at 6pm on a Fri afternoon, and I swear this is what he says(oh BTW the doc calling me back is my docs twin brother weird huh)Cholesterol is high, looks like the start of Emphesema and you are in the 3rd stage of kidney failure, and it looks like melanoma on one of your breast ok! Have a good week end.

I swear I stood there with the phone in my hand and sunk to the floor in tears. The Rev was like what did they say and I told him and he sat there a cried with me. Now again if you know me you will know what I do next. I research. I fing the good the bad and the ugly. Sometimes it scares me but I would rather know. So, the Monday after this I went in to see my twin Dr. David. He took the time to explain alot to me and while daunting at least it was clear.

So the first stop was to dermtologist. She scraped the red spot off of my breast and sent it in. One week later it came back basal cell cacinoma and I had a 2 x 2 x 2 incision. But they got it all. So now I m back on 6 month tests.(been through this before.)

Next my annual with my specialist at KUMC.

Then a kidney scan, then pulminary doc, then endocrinologist. blood test after blood test, test here test theree over and over, I am a human pin cushion.

So far the little smarty twin doc (stan) has been wrong. Emphesema=Adult onset Asthman(I had it when I was little)

Stage three kidney disease=yes I have it but there are other factors that I do not fall in to make it dangerous at this moment.

And of course we already talked about the cancer on the breast.

I guess the moral of this story is do research, see another doc, just be proactive in yourself and your health because doctors are so busy today they barely have time to sit down for more than 5 minutes at a time and explain things to you.

Just alittle side note. My specialist at KUMC is a world renown doctor in the disease of the gut. The second appointment I had with him I took papers printed of the web site for CVS(Cyclic Vomiting) and he has now saved thousands with the info and letting me be his guinea pig. I don't mind being his tester I throw up occassionally but I have the tools and medications now to not end up at the ER.

And last but not least, just because they have MD behind their name they are not always right.

A Bear in a Bush...

Bear was pretty fearless when he was growing up. He had all the "Snips and Snails and Puppy Dogs Tails" any boy could wish for. His verve for life was admirable if not exhausting at times.
At one point we lived in a townhouse and the bedrooms were up stairs. One of the bedrooms upstairs had a balcony and of course I didn't want him to have this room because I knew he would be out the door and climbing down that balcony. But that didn't stop him.

My office was right across the street from where we lived so after school Bear would ride the bus and then go home. He was suppose to stay in the house until I got off 2 hours later. Yeah right!
I got a call one day from the landlady telling me Bear was jumping off the balcony into the bushes below and running back into the house and doing over and over. Just one of the many times I was shaking my head wondering what in the hell he was thinking.

When I got home the bush was pretty much trashed and I was wanting to string him up. I asked him:

Me: What were you thinking? Do you know you could have broken a leg or arm or worse your neck?

Bear: Yep! But I didn't!

Me: How are we going to pay for the bush?

Bear: I dunno!

Me: Why? (at this point I was just at a loss)

Bear: Cause it was fun! We all were doing it!

Me: So just because everyone else was jumping off the balcony means you had to?(You know the old adage)

Bear: No! Everyone else was doing it because I did!

Oh No You Dinnnnn't!

Like I said, I met the Rev 7 years ago. I had just broke up with a serial heart killer on Sunday and met Rev on Monday.

I know you'll love the background on the serial heart killer so I lay it out for you. I was an insurance agent that worked for an insurance agent. He would come in to the office all the time and seemed so shy and such a good guy. He was divorced with two grown children, well established with his own farm and was about to become a retired fireman. I really never noticed any overt flirting from him at all. But anytime he came in he would always call my boss and ask if I was seeing anyone. And I usually was involved in my latest tragic soap opera of the month. I don't know why I picked up predators I just did.

Any way this went on about 4 years until I caught the guy I was dating cheating on me. Now I'll tell you ladies if you have a gut feeling your guy is a cheater and you feel some of the things he is doing are out of character he probably is a cheater!

So, my boss let this guy know I was single. Like I said in a post before I was pretty ill during this time and did not go out much and I especially didn't eat out.(My illness makes me throw up and you don't want details believe me) So, he came by the office the next day and asked me out and I accepted. From the beginning it was a stressful relationship. We would go out and have a good time, but you have that feeling that something is just not right.

Then it happened he stood me up. Then had the gall to call me and tell me some hopped up story about a cow getting caught in the pond and they had to pull her out. That is what cell phones are for! Duh! And to make matters worse it was close friends of mine that we were doubling with. The bad part I took him back!

We wnt on for about 2 years back and forth fighting and struggling trying to make it work and took trips together and all was going good until this one weekend. We had decided to go on a trip to Branson and I was at my house that weekend getting ready and decided to give him a call about something or the other and a woman answered the phone! I thought it was his daughter in law and I asked is this her and this is how it went:

Her: No this assh*les girlfriend.

Me: Uh huh?

Her: Who is this?

Me: Well until now I thought I was AH's gf.

Her: Really? Hmmmm.

Me: How long have you been seeing AH?

Her: About a year.

Me: Really about 2 years here. We are suppose to be going to Branson this Monday.

Her: Well so are we!

Me: Maybe we are all suppose to go together! (Laugh, but I am so mad I want to rip is eyes out)

Her: BTW how old is he?

Me: What? How old did he tell you he was?

Her: 46

Me: OMG! He is 53! Hang on a minute I am going to 3 way this for someone to corraberate my story ok?

Her: Ok.

So I call my sister Vickie who has met AH and we have been to her house .... Tell her whats up and get back to 3-way.

Me: Ok we are back!

We all talk for a while and tell her all kinds of imformation and come up with a plan. AH was out getting something and she was going to call his cell and put him back on 3way from her end and me, Vick and her were all going to be there. HA HA HA!

So she gets him and tells him to hang on another call was coming in and clicks over (hang on this gets really good!)

ME: Hey, AH its Kat when are you picking me up Monday for Branson!

Crickets!

HER: Do you need to pick me up first or her?

Crickets!

Vick: What's wrong AH caught with your pants down?

And you are not gonna believe what he said and I swear this is true!

AH: I don't know who any of you are and you must have a wrong number.

Click!

I swear!

I found out later that that poor girl actually moved in with him and the week before Rev and I got married AH called me and told me he regreted what happened and wanted me back.

What was my answer..

I don't know any of you! You must have the wrong number! Click!

The Woes of Love!

The Rev and my 7th anniversary is coming up soon and it has been some of the best married years of my life. It was one of those whirlwind romances, love at first site, hot and heavy right out of a romance novel. We met in May and were married in July on Friday the 13th!

After we were married me and Bear were moved in I woke up and was getting ready to do my normal insomniac roaming of the house. I keep a flashlight next to my bed because I am so nightblind I will run into walls and break my nose or get a bruise on my cheek or a black eye.
This particular night my flashlight's batteries were dead. So here I am walking very slowly with my hands out in front of me trying to remember where things are so as not to wake up the whole house by walking into something or stepping on a cat.

I am getting pretty close to the door because I can see the a little light from the one lamp in the kitchen that we leave on at night.

Suddenly, I feel hot breath on the back of my neck. Let me tell you, if could of jumped out of my skin, all of my inards would have been laying on the floor in a pile! But I just froze. I just got out of bed and the Rev was asleep, so who was behind me?

I finally got the nerve to turn slightly and Boo! rang out and I ran like a little girl screaming all the way to Bears room. I was gonna grab him and head for the door when I realized he wasn't in bed.

I finally got back to hallway and flipped on the light and of course it was the Rev and Bear standing there laughing thier asses off and looking very proud of themselves.

They later told me they enjoyed the week of silence I gave them!

Some Times You Just Gotta Say WTF!

Bear, called me again today and told me the Navy is sending him to college. To be more clear they want him to be a Navy Phsycologists. Huh? I mean yeah I am super proud of him, I was proud of him when he joined the Navy during wartime and I was proud of him when they offered him a place in the Navy Seals, I was proud when he turned them down, then I was proud of him when they made him go work with them any way.

I really thought Bear's life long dream was to be a pastor. That is all he has talked about since he was in high school. Yep, his mom's a bit of a reprobate, but hey I still say my prayers and thank God every day for things that others would not even think of like a great parking space!

So yeah I was a little taken aback. We talked for a while about how to study and what classes he was going to take first and other things pertinent to college courses.

And then out of nowhere he began talking about an incident that happened when he was in sixth grade. Now, you would have had to know me when he was in school, I was very ill and most of the time I was hanging on by a thread. Bear was very perceptive and tried not to get me to upset so I would not get sicker. I thank my child every day for this.

Ok back to the story. I came home from lunch and somehow a bird got into our apartment. This little tiny baby bird was so scared it was flying around and flailing hitting the walls and we were so afraid it was going to hurt itself. Bear finally got it kinda cornered and jumped up underneath it and didn't realize there was a shelf there and split his head open from his eyebrow to his hairline. Now if your a mom you have most likely delt with a head wound and know it is one of the most frightening things to deal with. There is more blood from a head wound for the least amount of damage that it does than any other part of the body. I mean this thing was pulsing blood out in big squirts. Supermom kicks in and rushed him to the doctor and they took care of it and then when we got home I fell apart. Needless to say I did not go back to work that day but stayed at home with Bear to make sure he didn't show any signs of a concusion.

He told me during all of it he was worried most about the white coverlet on the bed under where he had jumped up and he was afraid he would get blood on it. It broke my heart. Was I such a monster that he felt that afraid when he hurt himself he felt I would be mad? I am anal abaout a clean house and everything has a place but I can be cluttery. I hope him and I can work through this and I hope he knows I love him in every way a mother can love a child.

So, Bear if you are reading this, YOU are and always have been the most important thing in my life and I will always be there for you in times of sadness and in times of joy!

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY! PLEASE!

Bear loved Star Trek! Of course he really grew up with the Star Trek Generation. He didn't get to live through the old skool glory when Doc Mc Coy pronouce someone's demise. "He's dead Jim!" Oh, the thrill of it! Or when Scotty would relay the message of no way could he summon more power from the engines with a , "Captain, were breaking up!" Chills!

Any way there were trekies all over the house at times and figurines and ships turned up in the wierdest placest. Like a Borg ship would be searching the depths of space in the neverending frozen goods of our freezer. Or a Klingon War ship was ready for a fight under the sheets in my bed.

Or it could be Picard leading the Federation of the Planets to take over the Universe on my kitchen floor. Which was actually quite impressive if you can imagine all the little figures and thiers phasers, shields, tri-corcders, swords... and then vehicles, ships... It felt like war time at the Pentagon!

The day it went wrong is one I was glad hasn't been repeated. Bear had a toy that was a transporter. It was really cool! You put these little figures in and turned it and it made the transporting noise and they would disappear. But as with most toys made today it work the first 50 times and then it stopped.

So being the little intelligent what Bear did next will go down in the annals of times in a our family stories! :0(

Now you know kids and the ghost's that live around the house. I Didn't Do It, I Don't Know and It Wasn't Me and of course our resident ghost I Only Had One. He came running at warp speed(snicker) out of the bathroom screaming, "I didn't do it!"

And I am like what the hell.

Me: What is wrong!

Bear: The toilet is overflowing!

Me: Find that plungy thingy!(while running to turn the water off behind the toilet)

Bear: Where is it?

Me:(growling)I don't know find it!

I got the water turned off and I am soaking wet from being on the floor while water is running all around me and notice there are two little red legs and feet with black boots sticking out of the hole in the bottom of the bowl.

Bear: Here I found it!

Me: Why is Captain Picard in the toilet?

(Have you guessed it?)

Bear: He must of beamed there!

I Only Had One!

"I only had one", has a special place in our hearts and memories in our house. It was spoken at very special times when cookies or soda would simply vanish into thin air. We would go to the kitchen to grab a Coke and the box would be empty and still sitting in the fridge, and yes it would have to be asked even tho' we knew what the answer was going to be,

"We just bought this yesterday! How many have you had?"

"I only had one!"

Or and this is my favorite. Chocolate chips. How many of you have gone to bake chocolate chip cookies and picked up the bag and it was empty. You look at the bag puzzled as it hasn't been opened and you know it had the chips in there when you bought them. So where are they?
Well let me tell you where they went. I was talking to Bear the other day and just plain asked him how this magic had accured. Here's his story:
"Ok Mom, this is what I did. I took my pocket knife and turned the package over. You know the long seal on the back? I slipped the blade in between there just enough to get a couple of chips out at a time and then glued it back together. And voila, the mystery of the vanishing chocolate chips,

wait for it...

wait for it...

but I only did it once!"

Potato Potato Potato

If you have a Harley you will know what this means, hell even if you don't have one you would know! Any way this weekend the Rev and I, Kat test drove a few. We settled on a harley softail deluxe old skool motorcycle. It has black pearl and white pearl fenders, tombstone lights. We figured it would save on fuel when we take our day jaunts to the antique stores or talamina drive to see the color of the fall trees. So, I am now an official Biker Bitch! All that keeps goin through my mind is,

Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space...

I raised Bear pretty much alone, his step-father was a jerk and when we divorced it was pretty much Bear and I. We went through so many discussions about motorcycles. It would go something like this:

Bear: Mom

Me:What is it you can't possibly live with out now, Bear?

Bear:A motorcycle!

Me: Aint gonna happen until you are out on your own and buy it your self.

Bear: Why?

Me: Cause I like your head just where it is.

Bear: That aint gonna happen to me Mom!

Me: Famous last words.

Bear: FINE!!!!! STOMP stomp SLAM!

So, now that he is in the Navy, he hangs ten on a long board. He is sponsered by a skateboard company. If you don't know what that is pop on over to youtube and plug long boarding in. It's quite an exhilerating sport if you like your child going down steep hills on 4 wheels the size of a little gems donuts and a slab of wood.
Any way, my mind just runs on and on.... Sorry!

Like I said Bear is in the Navy we talk at least 3 times a week. But I just had to rub it in about the motorcycle. I tried a 7am 8am 9am 10am 11am 12 pm NO ANSWER! Dang! Finally, the phone rings and it is him. He was in bad mood. And of course I had to make it worse!

Me: My Gosh I have been trying to get ahold of you all morning! Are you OK?

Bear: Yes(it was one of those long yesss you get when they become irritated because your questioning them)I just wanted to sleep in till 11 and I did.

ME: Ok I just wanted to make sure you weren't sick.

(My Dad gave John his Harley Motorcycle Jean jacket that he had when he was a motorcycle cop. HEHEHE!! (Can you see where this is going? OK, it gets better!)

ME: I wanted to know if I could borrow your Harley jacket this fall?

Bear:Sure, but why?

ME: Cause we just got a Harley!

Bear: That is just wrong. You are to old to ride Harleys!

ME: Your disinherited.

Ok so I'm blogging! Are ya happy now!

So, it's the in thing now! Ya gotta blog! When I was a teen it was a pair of Levis 501 jeans and a slim line phone, with your own number in one of the popular colors. That put you in the "in" crowd! Pashaw!
I have some favorite blogs that have had me laughing so hard my sides were in stitches and my tear ducts were dry. Arid I say, Arid!
I used to be funny, way back before children and ex-husband that made me cranky and hateful. Or the one I hate more than anything else, even the c word, being "ugly"! If you want to tell me I am being "ugly" you are taking your life and putting it in my hands! Arrrrrrggggghhhhhh! Hell, I was even up for Goofiest Senior in high school. I was beat out by that witch that put out while telling a joke. They will win every time.
I'm serious I used to be fun to be around. I was always making people laugh. That ended the day I shot a 8lb 9oz baby through a hole the size of a golfball. This was, to my later chargin one of my last times being funny.
That was 25 years ago. John was born, we call him Bear to this day. Before that I was 36 23 34 respectively. After that I 42 35 39 dis respectively. I breastfed. Breastfed...now theres a word that doesn't really seem to mean what it says. Breast-thats easy those 2 things on the front of a woman that some men stare open mouthed at and don't even care if the spittle is dripping down thier chin. Fed-to feed. So to feed the breast, not in this case. More like breast defeeding. Thats what happened in my case. My perky breast went from a 36 to a 42 to back to a deflated 36. :0(
I had to laugh tho'. One time we were at Pizza Hut, (which btw was Bear's second word. I swear! We were in the car and went past a PH and he pointed and said, "Pizza Hut")and it always happens, Bear wanted to be fed. So I, pulled out the blanket from the diaper bag, while holding Bear with one arm, put the blanket over my shoulder, and while trying to balance Bear and hold my shoulder at a 90 degree angle so the blanket wouldn't fall, I try to release my breast out of the worse shirt I could have worn for breast feeding and finally get settled and then the Bear wraps his prescious little fingers around the blanket and pulls it down! And as every man drops thier pizza in thier lap and mothers are covering thier childrens eyes while simultanilously giving me the evil eye, I just simply smiled and got up an ran to the car boob flopping around and all. Hell, once your on that briiring table with it all hangin' out who cares what anyone see's!
